1. About Us and These Terms

1.1 We are JPLC Limited, trading as PetMatcher (“PetMatcher”, “we”, “us” or “our”). We operate an online pet adoption aggregator and matchmaking platform via petmatcher.com (the “Platform”).

1.2 These Terms and Conditions apply to your use of all services we provide through the Platform, including:

• Our pet adoption aggregator and search interface
• Our adoption questionnaire and matchmaking service
• Our pet insurance quote referral service
• Marketing consent capture and referral services for Tailster Perks and selected third-party partners
• Your PetMatcher user account
• Any associated features or digital services (together, the “Services”)

1.3 By creating an account or using any of our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1.4 If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use our Services.

1.5 These Terms should be read alongside our Website Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, both of which form part of your agreement with us.

2. Definitions

In these Terms:

• “Adoption Questionnaire” means the lifestyle and home situation questionnaire completed by registered users for the purpose of our matchmaking service.
• “Insurance Quote” means a pet insurance quotation provided by a third-party insurance provider via a clickthrough journey from the Platform.
• “Insurance Provider” means a regulated third-party insurance provider with whom PetMatcher has a referral or commercial arrangement.
• “Matchmaking Service” means our automated service that suggests suitable pets for adoption based on your Adoption Questionnaire responses.
• “Rescue Organisation” means a third-party animal rescue or rehoming charity whose listings appear on the Platform.
• “Third-party Services” means services provided by third parties that are accessible through or integrated with the Platform.

3. Eligibility and Permitted Use

3.1 To use our Services, you must:

• be at least 18 years old
• have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract
• use the Services in compliance with all applicable UK laws and regulations

3.2 By using our Services, you confirm that you meet these requirements.

4. Your PetMatcher Account

4.1 To access certain Services (including the Adoption Questionnaire and Matchmaking Service), you must create an account and provide accurate, complete and up-to-date information, including your name and email address.

4.2 You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and secure.

4.3 You must notify us immediately if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

4.4 You are responsible for all activity carried out through your account.

4.5 We may suspend or terminate your account if:

• you breach these Terms
• we reasonably suspect misuse, fraud or unlawful activity
• it is necessary for legal or regulatory reasons

5. Our Services

5.1 Adoption Aggregator

We aggregate publicly available pet adoption listings from UK rescue organisations and present them in a single searchable interface. We are not a rescue organisation and do not take part in the adoption process. Listing information is provided by rescue organisations and may not always be accurate or current. You should always verify details directly with the rescue before making adoption decisions.

5.2 Adoption Questionnaire and Matchmaking Service

Registered users may complete an Adoption Questionnaire covering lifestyle and home situation. We use your responses to run our Matchmaking Service, which suggests pets that may be a good fit for you based on your answers.

Please note:

• Match suggestions are recommendations only. They are not a guarantee that a rescue organisation will approve your adoption application.
• Rescue organisations make their own independent decisions about adoption suitability.
• Your questionnaire responses are used by PetMatcher for internal matching purposes. Where you have given your explicit consent in relation to a specific pet and rescue organisation, we may share relevant responses with that rescue as part of the adoption process.

5.3 Insurance Quote Referral Service

We provide a pet insurance quote referral service that directs you to regulated insurance providers’ own quote and buy journeys. Please note:

• We do not provide insurance or financial advice.
• Insurance quotes are provided by third-party Insurance Providers who are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
• Any contract you enter into with an Insurance Provider is separate to your contract with us and is subject to the Insurance Provider’s own terms and conditions.
• Once your details are passed to an Insurance Provider, they become a data controller in their own right. Please refer to their privacy notice.

5.4 Tailster Perks and Partner Marketing

With your consent, we may send you updates, offers or rewards through Tailster Perks, a brand operated by JPLC Limited, and from selected third-party partners. You can manage or withdraw your marketing consent at any time through your account settings or by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.

6. Free Services

All PetMatcher Services are currently provided free of charge. We reserve the right to introduce paid features in the future, in which case we will update these Terms and give you reasonable notice before any charges apply.

7. Our Role and Limitations

7.1 PetMatcher is a technology platform, not a rescue organisation, animal welfare body or financial adviser.

7.2 We do not:

• guarantee adoption outcomes or that any rescue organisation will accept your application
• provide insurance, financial or legal advice
• take responsibility for the actions, decisions or practices of rescue organisations or Insurance Providers

7.3 Any agreement you enter into with a rescue organisation or Insurance Provider is entirely separate to your agreement with us.

8. Termination

8.1 You may close your account at any time by contacting us or through your account settings. Upon closure, your personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

8.2 We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time if you breach these Terms, we reasonably suspect misuse, or it is necessary for legal or regulatory reasons.

8.3 Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, limitation of liability and governing law) will continue to apply after your account is closed.

9. Data Protection and Privacy

We process personal data in accordance with UK data protection law. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and share personal data, including your Adoption Questionnaire responses, marketing consents and insurance quote referrals. The Privacy Policy forms part of your agreement with us.

10. Intellectual Property

All content, branding, software and data on the Platform belong to us or our licensors. You may not copy, reproduce or use them without our prior written consent.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify PetMatcher against losses, claims or expenses arising from your breach of these Terms or misuse of the Platform.

12. Our Responsibility for Loss or Damage

12.1 We are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our failure to comply with these Terms or our negligence.

12.2 We are not responsible for:

• losses caused by events outside our reasonable control
• the accuracy of pet listings provided by rescue organisations
• the decisions or actions of rescue organisations or Insurance Providers
• indirect or consequential losses

12.3 Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms will be posted on the Platform with a revised “Last updated” date. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or via your account. Continued use of the Services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

14. Complaints

If you have a complaint, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. We aim to respond to all complaints within 10 working days.

15. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you may bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, Scotland (if resident there) or Northern Ireland (if resident there).
